There are, of course more worthy novels from the 1990s than I could include here. They speak to all the joys and complications of being human. But I do know that these novels from the 1990s, though written in a different era, are just as relevant today as they were when they were first published. I don’t know the official designation for what constitutes historical fiction. I remember someone asking recently if books set in the 1990s should count as historical fiction. But there are a lot of fantastic novels from the 1990s that are worth jumping up and down about. It’s rare to find people around the bookish internet jumping up and down about novels published 30 years ago. With so many new books coming out every week, it’s easy to forget about the backlist.
